Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Prepare the Baking Dish by lining a 9x9 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Add the Nuts by evenly distributing 1 cup of chopped pecans or almonds across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Combine Ingredients in a Pot by mixing 1 cup of butter, 1 cup of granulated sugar, ¼ cup of water, and ½ teaspoon of salt in a heavy-bottomed pot.
  • Heat to the Hard Crack Stage until the mixture reaches the hard crack stage at 300°F, stirring frequently.
  • Add Vanilla by stirring in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract once you've reached the perfect temperature.
  • Pour Over the Nuts immediately after removing the pot from heat.
  • Sprinkle Chocolate Chips evenly on top after letting the caramel cool for about 2 minutes.
  • Allow the Chocolate to Melt by covering the baking dish for about 4 minutes.
  • Swirl the Melted Chocolate over the caramel layer after the chocolate has melted.
  • Add Optional Toppings like chopped pecans and flaked sea salt on top if desired.
  • Cool Completely at room temperature or refrigerate for about 4 hours.
  • Cut and Serve by lifting the toffee out of the baking dish and cutting it into pieces.
