Ingredients
  

For the Chicken

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk or milk mixed with vinegar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or fresh garlic
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika or sweet/smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying

For the Sauce

  • 1 cup mayonnaise or vegan mayo
  • ½ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha adjust to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup for vegan

Instructions
 

Prepare Chicken

  • Cut boneless, skinless chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and submerge them in buttermilk.
  • Let the chicken marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Make Batter

  • Whisk together all-purpose flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until combined.
  • Coat each piece of chicken with the flour mixture and let sit for 10 minutes.

Prepare Bang Bang Sauce

  • In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, lime juice, and honey; stir until smooth.

Cook Chicken

  • Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) in a skillet.
  • Fry chicken pieces for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Assemble & Serve

  • Place crispy fried chicken on a serving platter and drizzle with Bang Bang sauce.
  • Garnish if desired and serve with steamed rice or salad.

Notes

Store leftover Bang Bang Chicken Sauce in an airtight container for up to one week. The crispy fried chicken can be refrigerated for up to 3 days. Reheat in an oven for best results.
