Ingredients
  

For the Tortellini and Sausage

  • 1 lb Italian sausage remove casing if using links
  • 12 oz Fresh or refrigerated tortellini for best texture

For the Creamy Sauce

  • 2 tablespoon Butter for richness
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 cup Chicken broth for depth
  • 1 cup Heavy cream primary ingredient for creaminess
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan cheese for flavor

For the Veggies

  • 2 cups Broccoli florets adds nutrition and color

Seasoning and Garnish

Cooking Steps

  • Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Remove casing from the Italian sausage and break it into small chunks. Sauté until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  • In a separate pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil. Add fresh tortellini and cook according to package directions, usually about 3-5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add 3 cloves of minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds. Stir in 2 cups of broccoli florets and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  • Pour in 1 cup of chicken broth and 1 cup of heavy cream. Bring to a gentle simmer. Gradually whisk in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.
  • Return the cooked sausage and tortellini to the skillet. Toss until evenly coated in the creamy sauce. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and extra Parmesan. Serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave, adding a splash of chicken broth or cream to restore creaminess.
