  • 2 teaspoons Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Cardamom optional, can substitute with Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon All-purpose flour optional, to help bind the mixture
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda

For Frying

  • 3-4 cups Vegetable oil for frying until crispy

For Serving

  • 0.5 cups Tahini sauce as a dip

Step-by-Step Instructions for Falafel

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F for about 3 minutes.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine soaked chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, dill, cumin, cardamom, salt, and pepper. Use a food processor to pulse until coarse.
  • Roll the falafel mixture into small balls or patties, about 1-2 inches in diameter.
  • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil and place falafel in a single layer.
  • Air fry falafel for 12-14 minutes at 375°F, shaking the basket halfway through.
  • Serve warm with a drizzle of tahini sauce.

Notes

Soak chickpeas overnight for best results. Refrigerate formed falafel for 30 minutes before frying to enhance crispiness.
