Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by greasing and lining with parchment paper.
  • Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar.
  • Add 4 large eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition. Mix in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, ½ teaspoon of salt, and ½ teaspoon of baking powder.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • For the raspberry swirl, blend 6 oz of fresh raspberries with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice until smooth.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
  • Drop dollops of the raspberry puree onto the top of the brownie batter and swirl with a knife.
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes until edges look set and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes, then slice into squares and serve.

Notes

Use high-quality cocoa powder and fresh raspberries for the best flavor. Don't overmix to achieve a fudgy texture.
