Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Warm the plant-based milk in the microwave until it's warm but not boiling, about 30-40 seconds.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the strong white flour, dried yeast, soft brown sugar, and salt.
  • Add the warmed plant-based milk and olive oil to the dry mixture and stir until it forms a dough.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 3-5 minutes until it’s smooth and stretchy.
  • Place the kneaded dough in an oiled bowl and cover with a damp cloth; let it prove for 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C and line a baking tin with baking paper.
  • Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle shape about ¼ inch thick.
  • Spread the soft brown sugar, cinnamon, and apple fruit filling evenly across the dough.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a log shape and pinch the seam to seal.
  • Slice the rolled dough into 1.5 to 2-inch thick pieces and arrange them in the prepared baking tin.
  • Cover the buns with cling film and let them prove for another 45 minutes.
  • Brush the tops of the buns with melted vegan butter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
