Step-by-Step Instructions for Christmas Pecan Turtles

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather your baking pan and pecans.
  • Spread the pecans evenly on a baking pan and toast for about 8 to 10 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, add the butter and melt it in the microwave for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • In a larger mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with light brown sugar, granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and sweetened condensed milk. Whisk until smooth.
  • Transfer the caramel mixture to the microwave and heat for about 6 minutes, stirring halfway through until it thickens.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract to the caramel mixture and set aside.
  • Gradually fold the chopped pecans into the caramel mixture, ensuring each piece is coated.
  • Allow the mixture to cool slightly. Transfer it to a greased pan and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • In another bowl, heat the chopped chocolate in the microwave in 30-second increments until smooth.
