Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Smoky Masala Chai

  • Start by pouring 2 cups of water into a small pot and place it over medium-high heat. Bring the water to a vigorous boil.
  • Carefully add the black peppercorns, whole cloves, green cardamom pods, and a cinnamon stick. Let this mixture simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.
  • Introduce the smoky black tea to the pot and steep for 3–4 minutes, stirring gently.
  • Stir in 1 cup of your preferred milk and add 1 to 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Turn the heat back to medium and simmer for 3–4 minutes.
  • Remove the pot from heat. Use a fine mesh strainer to carefully pour the chai into mugs.

Notes
