Cake Layer

  • 1 package chocolate cake use homemade or store-bought

Cream Layer

  • 2 cups whipped cream

Cherry Layer

  • ¼ cup cherry juice
  • 2 cups cherries fresh or jarred, pitted and halved
  • 1 tablespoon sugar optional

Garnish

  • ¼ cup chocolate shavings

Instructions
 

Assembling the Trifle

  • Prepare the trifle dish by ensuring it is clean and dry.
  • Crumble ⅓ of the chocolate cake into small pieces and layer it in the bottom of the dish.
  • Drizzle ¼ cup of cherry juice over the chocolate cake layer.
  • Add ⅓ of your whipped cream over the soaked chocolate cake layer.
  • Layer ⅓ of your pitted and halved cherries on top of the whipped cream.
  • Repeat the layering process two more times: cake, cherry juice, whipped cream, and cherries.
  • Top with the remaining whipped cream and smooth over the surface.
  • Garnish with chocolate shavings and any leftover cherries before refrigerating for at least 4 hours.

Notes

This trifle can be made a day ahead to enhance the flavors. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
