  • 4 cups All-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • ¼ cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoon Active dry yeast 1 packet
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cup Whole milk warm
  • ½ cup Water warm
  • ¼ cup Unsalted butter softened
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 2 tablespoon Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon Red food coloring gel or liquid
  • ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract

Cinnamon Filling

  • ½ cup Unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup Brown sugar packed
  • 2 tablespoon Ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon Salt

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 8 oz Cream cheese softened
  • ¼ cup Unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ½ cups Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • pinch Salt

  • In a small bowl, combine warm milk and warm water, then stir in the granulated sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast on top and let it rest for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, sugar, and cocoa powder. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, butter, food coloring, and vanilla. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • While the dough rises, mix softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl.
  • Roll the dough into a rectangle (12x18 inches). Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
  • Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces.
  • Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Prepare the frosting by beating together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  • Let the rolls cool for 5 minutes, then frost while warm and serve immediately.

Notes
