Step-by-Step Instructions for Christmas Popcorn

  • Pop the popcorn kernels using an air popper or stovetop method over medium heat. You’ll want about 10-12 cups of fluffy popcorn, lightly salted.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine butter and granulated sugar over low heat. Stir continuously until fully melted, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, pour the warm butter and sugar mixture over the popped popcorn, stirring gently to coat each piece.
  • Melt white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals. Once smooth, drizzle over the coated popcorn.
  • While the chocolate is warm, sprinkle crushed candy canes, sprinkles, and M&Ms over the popcorn. Mix in toasted nuts if desired.
  • Spread the decorated popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  • Once set, break the popcorn into clusters and transfer to festive containers or serve in a bowl.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor, and store in an airtight container to maintain crunchiness.
