Dough

  • 1 pound pizza dough Use store-bought for convenience or make your own.

Garlic Herb Oil

  • ½ cup olive oil Extra will be used for brushing the top.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic enhances the savory notes.
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano An essential herb for classic pizza flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil Adds a sweet, aromatic touch.
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional for spice.

Cheesy Layers

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds a nutty flavor profile.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese The star ingredient for its meltiness.

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and let sit for at least 15 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch springform pan or oven-safe skillet with olive oil.
  • Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 12x18 inches on a floured surface.
  • Brush the rolled-out dough with the garlic herb oil, reserving about 2 tablespoons for later.
  • Evenly sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the dough, followed by a layer of mozzarella cheese.
  • Cut the dough into 1-inch wide strips and stack 6-8 strips together.
  • Cut the stacked strips into 1-inch squares and arrange them in the prepared pan with cut sides facing up.
  • Repeat the stacking process until the pan is filled snugly.
  • Brush the top with the reserved garlic herb oil, cover loosely with foil, and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with parsley before serving.
  • Serve warm, optionally with pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

Allow dough to rest at room temperature for 30 minutes prior to use for easier handling. Customize fillings to your taste.
